Increased Funding for Varsity Colleges

The government has embarked on a programme to strengthen and empower newly established university colleges through the provision of increased government development funding. The idea according to Dr. Areba Nyangate, a Senior Deputy Director in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is to accelerate teaching and research capacities in the institutions through the acquisition of crucial and modern infrastructure. Kenya Bureau of Standards Surveillance Audit

Three audit officials from Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) commenced ISO 9001:2008 surveillance audit at the main campus in Juja, Tuesday September 3, 2013, the first such exercise since the standards body re-certified the University in October 2012. An agreement to foster mutually beneficial academia and industry cooperation, bringing together Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has been formalized. Five volunteer undergraduate students from Japan’s Yamagata University are currently undertaking a three week cultural exchange programme as Japanese tutors at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). The students are teaching their Kenyan counterparts the Japanese language in a move aimed at strengthening cultural ties and diversity among nationals of the two nations. Varsity Conducts First Aid Training

Over 200 staffers drawn from various sections and departments Thursday concluded a two week basic first aid training workshop organized by the university hospital. The training which was conducted by safety and health consultants targeted equipped the staffers with skills in primary first aid and quick repose in cases of emergencies. The training also focused on how to handle people during crises.
